Our recent vacation to Hawaii and the financial meltdown in the US

The financial world is crashing down around us.  Since we don't own any noteworthy stocks (or noteworthy amounts rather) then we decided to go on vacation to Hawaii for a week while the rest of the world freaked out.

Sebastian couldn't stop working though, and was short selling bank stocks, hoping to make lots of money on the down side...

After a long night on the phone with New York, Tokyo, and Beijing, he takes a break to check out the outside of our "honeymoon cottage".

Unfortunately, the honeymoon cottage turned out to also be the honeymoon cottage for HUGE F-ING COCKROACHES!!!  That flew, hung out on the wall up by the ceiling in the kitchen (where they made passionate love) and tried to run out the hole by the sink when we found them... but since we had blocked the hole, that particular chevalier ended up being smashed then burnt alive as I took my vengance upon him for hanging out having parties in our kitchen without paying any of the rent.

We all got very very sick... Marian is still sick.  While Sebastian and I are on the mend, we are by no means mended.

More to follow when I have time to upload movies.

Loren left out the fact that our honeymoon cottage was also the party ground for 2-inch millipedes, massive amounts of little flies, mosquito hawks, and one centipede...and those can be vicious. The last couple of days we also had the company of one and then two geckos, which we wished had come earlier. The bathroom was significantly less bug infested after the first night with a gecko...just wish we spoke geckish, because they are supposed to eat cockroaches...something he didn't seem to remember.

Anyways, I am finally on the mend too...and maybe one day we'll take another chance at Hawai'i. The snorkeling was awesome, and Basti loved playing in the ocean...or "osen" as he calls it. I just don't recommend anyone getting too carried away with wanting the tropical experience...it comes with bugs...we're staying at a hotel next time :-)
